Walk in the footsteps of the past with the Historical Society of Bensalem Township. The bus tour of Historic Bensalem will begin at 8:30 am on Saturday, September 11th. Participants will meet at the office of the Historical Society of Bensalem at 3211 Knights Road. The cost is $50 per person and includes lunch which will be served at the Pen Ryn Mansion. The itinerary will include:
- Meet at the Historical Society of Bensalem Township and see our Office, Museum, and Learning Center.
- Growden Mansion: The home of Joseph and Grace Growden in Belmont Hill.
- Bensalem United Methodist Church with its 200-year-old chapel (built 1810).
- Pen Ryn Mansion: Built about 1754 by Abraham Bickley III and used as his home.
- Andalusia: Built in 1794 by John Craig and later became the Biddle Estate.
- King Library: Built in 1882 by Dr. Charles R. King to house his large collection of books.
- Saint Katharine Drexel Shrine: Chapel, crypt, and museum. Mother Katharine was Canonized on October 1, 2000.
- Return to the Office of the Historical Society of Bensalem at approximately 5:00 pm.
